Instruct a Barrister, Direct

Leamington Spa Barristers can be instructed directly in a number of instances, so going direct to the expert advocate, and not needing a solicitor. This is called the Direct Access Scheme.

Our direct access barristers cover cases in the whole of England and Wales, and can defend clients in the magistrates and crown courts. Some of our barristers also represent clients in certain other jurisdictions, too.

To speak with a specialist barrister, contact our clerks in the first instance. Note that not all barristers work under the Direct Access Scheme and so some will need to be instructed via a solicitor or by a colleague barrister who has litigation rights. Moreover, some criminal cases are of such complexity that more than one lawyer will be neeeded to work on the case. This might be a fellow barrister in chambers or an external solicitor. We will examine the needs of each case and make recommendations, and determine whether our barristers and chambers is suitable for the case, applying the cab rank rule where it applies. The cab rank rule does not apply to all areas of work, and will be dependent on an appropriate fee being agreed, and the availability of counsel.

Bespoke terms apply where a barrister is instructed directly, and a client care letter will be put in place before any legal services work begins.

All services are subject to availability and compliance requirements being met.
